Salt Of Earth Light Of World

"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:12-17

The Face of Death

Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. 2 Corinthians 1:9

At the face of death people often say that there must be some “reason” God still wants them here. Of course there is a reason but it is not one most think. It is not to save an old lady from being hit from a bus or to obtain a position of authority in the workplace; it’s to know the Lord as a real being. I believe he spares the lives of some to bring them into a relationship with Him. Mark 3:13 says, “And He went up on the mountain and summoned those whom He Himself wanted, and they came to Him.” If indeed He calls us to Himself, he would not allow us to go before we fulfilled the required connection He meant for us to have. “For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6. God is the only one who can lift the veil from our eyes that clearly allows us to see Him and raises our spiritual life from death into a living testimony of His goodness. God uses our lives to show His grace, but in ourselves we could never do anything for God that he could not do Himself. Before we came to Christ we were dead and he will continue to work in us and save us from mortal death until His work is complete in us. "He has rescued us from a terrible death, and he will rescue us in the future. We are confident that he will continue to rescue us.” 2 Corinthians 1:10
